Pistons make it 2-2
May 26, 2008
The conference finals are heating up with the Detroit Pistons evening the score 2-2 against the Boston Celtics and the defending champs beating the Lakers on their home court
The Bodog Sportsbook still has the Lakers as hot favorites to win the NBA title, offering odds of just 2.00. (1/1). This basketball fan thinks that is too short.
The Celtics are paying 3.00 and the Pistons 6.50. The Spurs are the long shot at 7.00.
The Pistons and Celtics are locked 2-2 after the Pistons defended their home court in emphatic fashion today. The looked liked the Pistons of old, locking up the Celts with old school defense. That's the reason they have been to six straight eastern conference finals.
The Spurs are trailing 1-2, but are they really a 7.00 (6/1 or +600) long shot to win the title? They gave the Lakers a 19 point basketball lesson on their home floor Sunday and Tuesday night they'll be trying to do the same again.
Bodog has them as -4 point favorites in Tuesday's game 4. And if they do win as the oddsmakers are predicting, they'll have a bucketload of confidence going into the final 3 games and will be a lot less than a 7.00 shot at beating the Lakers and then winning the title.
I know I'd back the Spurs to beat either Boston or Detroit in the finals. Boston has been less than convincing so far in the playoffs, needing 7 games to get through both of their first round matchups.
Detroit has already shown previously they can't match the Spurs in a 7 game series.
You can never count out a defending champ until that final bell rings. The Spurs as the longest shot to win this NBA Season? I don't think so....
