NFL Pro Bowl Preview
Tucker
January 26, 2010
The NFL has made a few changes to the Pro Bowl this year in the name of improvement, but one thing remains the same: BetUS is offering odds.
Pro Bowl tradition has gone out the window as NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has made a couple of big changes. In an effort to make the game a bit less anticlimactic, the Pro Bowl will now be held before the Super Bowl. This year’s AFC/NFC Teams will take to the field on January 31, 2010.
Though, perhaps the biggest and most controversial decision was to change the location. That’s right; Goodell has opted for a rotating schedule that will see the Pro Bowl moved to a new city each year. This year marks the first time since 1980 that the game will be moved from the sun bathed shores of Honolulu to the Sun Financial Stadium in Miami – the same location as this year’s Super Bowl.
So, with just a few days to go the roster has been finalized and the line makers have set the odds. As the Saints and the Colts are unable to participate, the NFL has announced the 17 replacements. The roster looks a little something like this (please note that the * denotes injury):

As you can see, there’s plenty of talent on both sides of the field. Though, one area that could make the difference is the quarterback. The NFC has plenty of big names to choose from, and even with Brett Favre on the injury list, they’ve got Tony Romo stepping in. Unfortunately for the AFC, both Philip Rivers and Tom Brady are injured, leaving Matt Schaub, Vince Young, and David Garrard to pick up the slack. Their best hope is Matt Schaub who was a league leader throughout the regular season, but lacked the consistency of the veterans fronting the NFC lineup. Other than that, both teams look pretty solid.
The NFC won last year’s game, giving them a one game lead in the series (20-19). That marked their second consecutive win, and third in last four Pro Bowl games. They are the favorites this year, but not by much. BetUS is offering the following odds:
Pointspread
NFC: -2 -110
AFC: +2 -110
