Houston Dynamo: +120
Draw: +220
New York Red Bulls: +190
Houston Dynamo: Having lost some of their better players within the last 12 months – not least of whom American international and Bolton Wanderers midfielder Stuart Holden – Houston haven’t been able to reproduce the form that saw them reach the Conference Finals last season. Aside from captain Brian Ching, Houston lack a lot of depth and their defensive weaknesses have been exposed time and time again; they are currently four points behind a playoff spot, with only five wins in 17 matches. Houston aren’t shy in front of goal, but if they are unable to tighten up their sometimes lacklustre defence players like Thierry Henry will run rings around them all day.
New York Red Bulls: New York pulled off one of the biggest transfers of the summer by signing former Arsenal and Barcelona sensation Thierry Henry earlier this month. The French forward is set to return to a striking position at the Red Bulls – in contrast to his usual position at left wing with Barca – and has already scored for his new club in a friendly against Tottenham Hotspur. With veterans of the game like Juan Pablo Angel, Carl Robinson, and now Henry, it’s no surprise that New York are sitting comfortably in fourth on the overall standings. Despite the bookies slightly favoring the home side, Henry will be keen to get off to a winning start with his new team.
OG Tip: Red Bulls to win in a tight contest.
