The Australian Open has reached its pinnacle with the top players preparing to take to the courts in the Finals. BetUS is offering odds.
Serena Williams and Justine Henin will be facing off in the women’s Finals this year. It marks Williams’s fifth trip to the final round of the Australian Open, and the first for Henin since her return to professional tennis after a 20 month retirement. Both faced tough competition with Li Na and Zheng Jie advancing, marking the first time that two Chinese players have advanced to the Semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament.
Williams faced off against Li Na, who, only days earlier, knocked out Venus Williams. Serena admitted that she picked up a few helpful tips from her older sister before the match. It seemingly paid off as she handed Na a 7-6(4), 7-6(4) loss to secure her 50th career win at the Aussie Open.
Henin didn’t waste any time in defeating Jie in her Semifinal match, grabbing a 6-0, 6-1 win. Henin faced some stiff competition throughout the tournament, including fifth ranked Elena Dementieva in the second round. Though she was pleased with her performance, there is no doubt that she has yet to face her toughest competition.
Williams is a big favorite going into this match despite having both legs heavily wrapped throughout this Grand Slam tournament. She’s never lost in a Final at Melbourne Park. Her powerful serve is her best weapon and she’ll need to focus on strong, consistent hits to win this match. Other the other side of the net, Henin is looking more confident with each match and will likely give Williams all she can handle. History is on her side as she’s beaten Williams the last three times the two have faced one another. It’s certainly going to be a game to watch. BetUS is offering the following odds:
Serena Williams v Justine Henin – Saturday, January 30
Moneyline
Williams: -125
Henin: -115
Andy Murray has secured his place in the men’s Australian Open Finals and is well on his way to making history. If he can pull off a win, he’ll be the first British male to win a Grand Slam single’s title in more than 70 years. He certainly earned his spot after defeating Marin Cilic 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2. His opponent is yet to be determined as Roger Federer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga battle for a ticket to the Finals. Though Murray admits that Tsonga is a strong player, he fully expects Federer to advance.
The men’s Finals will be held on Sunday, January 31, so don’t forget to check out BetUS to put down a wager on the upcoming match.
