2012/2013 Milwaukee Brewers Schedule
The Milwaukee Brewers will play 162 games during the 2013 MLB schedule. The Brewers face a tough opening month to the season and meet the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants in back to back series. The Brewers are one of only two major sporting teams based in Milwaukee so Milwaukee Brewers tickets generally sell fairly well.
Milwaukee Brewers Franchise History
The Brewers were established as the Seattle Pilot in 1969 before moving to Milwaukee in 1970. The Brewers didn't have a winning season until 1978 but developed a strong roster and qualified for the MLB playoffs for the first time in 1981. The following season they won their first division title and went all the way to the World Series before losing to the St. Louis Cardinals four games to three. Over the next twenty years the franchise experienced little success and in 1998 swapped from the American to National League. This change did not improve the Brewers record and it wasn't until 2007 that they returned to the MLB playoffs. In 2011, the franchise won their first National League Central Division title and finished 2012 with a winning record – only their second back to back winning seasons since 1991 and 1992.
Milwaukee Brewers Offensive Star: Ryan Braun
Ryan Braun was selected with the fifth overall pick of the 2005 MLB draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. After strong form in the minors Braun was bought up to the MLB in 2007 and immediately took the league by storm. Braun finished the season as the National League slugging percentage leader and was named National League Rookie of the Year. Braun is, arguably, the most consistent hitter in all of Baseball. The left fielder is a five time All-Star and Silver Slugger Award winner and was named National League MVP in 2011. Braun was criticized heading into the 2012 season but, after another stellar season, showed that he is one of the best players in Major League Baseball.
Milwaukee Brewers Defensive Star: Yovani Gallardo
Yovani Gallardo was selected in the second round of the 2004 MLB draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. After impressing in the minors Gallardo was called up to the MLB in 2007 but had his first two seasons in the league ruined by injuries. In 2009, he started thirty games for the Brewers and became only the four pitcher in franchise history to strike out over 200 batters in a season. Gallardo had another strong year in 2010 and was awarded with selection for the MLB All-Star game and the Silver Slugger Award. The right hander has been a remarkably consistent asset for the Brewers, in recent seasons, and is one of the best hitting pitchers in the MLB. If he can take his game to an elite level the Brewers will be definite World Series contenders in 2013.
Milwaukee Brewers Manager: Ron Roenicke
After almost twenty years as a coach at the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels Ron Roenicke was named manager of the Milwaukee Brewers. Roenick's first season in the job was extremely successful with the rookie coach leading the Brewers to their most wins in franchise and the National League Central Division title. After a slow start to 2012 the team Roenicke and his team rebounded to score back to back winning records. With a talented roster at his disposal Roenicke will be looking to lead the Brewers to the MLB playoffs and beyond in 2013.
