NFL Schedule - Team vs. Team - Week 8
Atlanta Falcons vs Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles have an excellent record against the Atlanta Falcons in recent years. The Eagles have won eight of the last ten clashes between the sides but lost their last meeting this year. The Eagles were expected to be a leading playoffs contender in 2012 but so far they have failed to impress. Quarterback Michael Vick has struggled behind a poor offensive line and their defense has been disappointing. The Falcons have stamped themselves as legitimate Super Bowl contenders. They have overcome a difficult schedule to start the season to be in a fantastic position heading into the second month of the season. The Falcons should be able to overcome their poor record at Lincoln Financial Field and win this game easily.
Carolina Panthers vs Chicago Bears
This is an interesting game and one that is extremely difficult to analyse from a betting perspective as both sides are very inconsistent. Both these sides have high-powered offenses that have failed to perform in 2012. The quarterback-receiver combination of the Bears Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall has failed to live up to the preseason hype and the Bears have struggled to score points. Panthers quarterback has been unable to replicate his incredible statistics from 2011 and he must improve his decision making if the Panthers are going to have a winning season in 2012. Because of their strong defense the Bears should win this game and will be available at good odds at Online Sportsbooks.
Dallas Cowboys vs New York Giants
The Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants face off for the second time this season. The Cowboys stunned the Giants in week 1 causing a big upset with strong performances on both sides of the football. This game will likely be decided by quarterback Tony Romo and Eli Manning. Romo has had a superb game in week 1 and led the Cowboys to victory while Manning had two strong performances in wins against the Cowboys in 2011. The Cowboys haven't won back to back games against the Giants since 2007 and will be desperate to do so and put themselves in the driving seat in the NFC East. The Cowboys are the best betting play in this game and should be available at attractive odds.
Indianapolis Colts vs Tennessee Titans
These AFC South rivals clash in a game that will likely have little consequences for the 2012 AFC South title. The Houston Texans are head and shoulders the best team in the division and by this stage of the season the three other sides are simply playing for second position and a possible wildcard berth. The Indianapolis Colts have improved significantly with Andrew Luck as quarterback but aren't strong enough on defense to qualify for the 2012 playoffs. The Titans scored a big win over the Detroit Lions in week 3 but that has been the only highlight of their season thus far. Their offensive line has given no assistance to young quarterback Jake Locker or running back Chris Johnson. Luck should be able to take advantage of the Titans poor secondary defense and lead his side to victory.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs Green Bay Packers
The Jacksonville Jaguars have won their last two games against the Green Bay Packers but will be at long odds to extend that winning streak to three. The Jaguars, led by running back Maurice Jones-Drew, simply aren't on the same level as the Packers despite the fact they have improved in 2012. However, the Packers have offensive issues and clearly aren't as strong as their 2011 team that only lost one game in the 2011 regular season. Aaron Rodgers will be looking at this game as a chance to get back into form and put up some big passing numbers. The Packers will win this game easily and are a good bet to beat the spread in betting markets at Online Sportsbooks.
Miami Dolphins vs New York Jets
The Miami Dolphins and New York Jets have traded wins in the last few seasons and both teams will be keen to get one over their divisional rivals in 2012. The Jets have a strong record on the road, against the Jets, and have won more than 50% of their meetings at SunLife Stadium. This is definitely a game that the Jets must win if they are going to qualify for the playoffs in 2012. Because of the New England Patriots' struggles the AFC East title is up for grabs and the Jets organization can't afford to waste this opportunity. Mark Sanchez normally plays fairly well against the Miami Dolphins and if he can avoid making mistakes the Jets should be able to win this game comfortably.
New England Patriots vs St Louis Rams
This game is a rematch of Super Bowl XXXVI that gave Tom Brady and Bill Belichick their first Super Bowl rings. The New England Patriots have been uncharacteristically poor in 2012 and will need to improve if they want to be considered 2012 Super Bowl contenders. The St Louis Rams have improved in 2012 but won't qualify for the playoffs in what is now a tough division. The Patriots will be desperate to send a message to other sides in the NFL and win this game in an impressive manner. Don't be surprised if this game is high scoring so a bet on Over in the Under/Over betting market at Online Sportsbooks is the best gambling play for this game.
New Orleans Saints vs Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos have an excellent record against the New Orleans Saints especially at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. This will be a battle between two great quarterbacks; Drew Brees for the Saints and Peyton Manning for the Broncos. The personal duel between those two will likely decide the outcome of this game. Drew Brees has a surprisingly poor record against the Broncos defense and hasn't lived up to his usual high standards in 2012 so Manning and the Broncos should have the edge in this game. The Broncos should be available at attractive odds at Online Sportsbooks and a bet on Over in the Under/Over betting market is also a good play.
Oakland Raiders vs Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs will be looking to maintain their excellent record at Arrowhead Stadium against the Oakland Raiders when they meet in week 8 of the 2012 NFL schedule. This should be a very physical and running based contest as these sides both have star running backs. Darren McFadden and Jamaal Charles have returned from injury in 2012 and are without a doubt the offensive focus of their sides. This makes the battle upfront between the respective offensive and defensive lines extremely important and will likely decide the outcome of this game. The best gambling play in this game is betting on the team available at longer odds at Online Sportsbooks.
San Diego Chagers vs Cleveland Browns
The San Diego Chargers have an excellent record against the Cleveland Browns and they appear likely to improve on this in 2012. The Browns have beaten the Chargers just once in the last twenty years and will need a massive effort to improve on this. The Browns offense has improved slightly with Trent Richardson as running back but quarterback Brandon Weeden hasn't performed as well as the franchise would have liked. This game will still be a stern test for Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers as the Browns defense is quiet strong. They will make him pay for any poor decision making or bad throws. The best betting option in this game is the Under option in the Over/Under betting market at Online Sportsbooks.
San Francisco 49ers vs Arizona Cardinals
This will be an important clash in the rejuvenated NFC West division. Just two years ago this division was the laughing stock of the NFL but has improved significantly, with the San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks all legitimate playoff contenders in 2012. This will be a low scoring defensive battle that may be decided by the form of the respective quarterbacks. Kevin Kolb has an excellent record against the 49ers but will need to be at his best against the elite defensive unit. Alex Smith has been very consistent in 2012 and if he can produce a mistake free performance against Cardinals it should be enough for a 49ers victory. This is another game were the Under option in the Over/Under betting market is the best gambling play.
Seattle Seahawks vs Detroit Lions
This will be an important game for both sides as the jockeying for position in the NFC wildcard battle really heats up. The Detroit Lions have been disappointing thus far in 2012 and don't look like the Super Bowl contenders many experts expected them to develop into. Quarterback Matt Stafford has been inconsistent and troubled by injury. The Lions need Stafford fit and firing if they are going to qualify for back to back playoff appearances. The Seattle Seahawks defense has been one of the best in the NFL this year. Their pass rushing ability is exceptional and they should be able to put the pressure on Stafford and the Lions offense. We are tipping the Seahawks here in an upset. They will be available at excellent odds at Online Sportsbooks.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings will be desperate to snap a five game losing streak against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when the sides meet in week 8 of the 2012 NFL season. The Minnesota Vikings have been surprise packages in 2012 and pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season when they beat the San Francisco 49ers in week 8. The Vikings offense is strong with Christian Ponder developing into a good quarterback and Adrian Peterson recovering well from injury. The Buccaneers haven't shown the same improvement on offense. Quarterback Josh Freeman continues to make bad throws and poor decisions and the offensive line isn't strong enough for them to become a run first offense. The Vikings should be able to win this game comfortably and will be able at good odds at Online Sportsbooks.
Washington Redskins vs Pittsburgh Steelers
The Washington Redskins have not defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers since 1991, a losing streak of four games. The Redskins offense has struggled significantly against the Steelers in that period averaging just seven points per game. That should change this year as the Robert Griffin III led offense has put up some big scores in 2012. The strong Steelers defense will be a test for the exciting young quarterback but if the Redskins offense does score points it will put the pressure on Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The Super Bowl winning quarterback has been superb in 2012 but he has received little support from the rest of his offense. This is a tough game to analyze so the best gambling play is to bet on the team available at longer odds at Online Sportsbooks.
