Time to qualify for the WSOP

March 31, 2008

Its's that time of year again, when everyone tries to emulate Chris Moneymaker and Greg Raymer and qualify for the World Series of Poker by playing online.

We'll give you the rundown of where to play to not only have the best chance of qualifying, but also get some good perks if you make it to the world's biggest tournament.

Play Online PokerThere will be literally thousands of players that qualify for the 2008 WSOP by playing in online satellite tournaments.

In 2003 Chris Moneymaker kickstarted the online poker boom by qualifying at PokerStars then going on to win the World Series of Poker. Then Greg 'Fossilman' Raymer did it as well in 2004.

If you want to be the champ in 2008 and win the $8 million+ prize, we recommend trying your luck at either Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars or Bodog. These are the online poker rooms that not only will give you the best chance of qualifying, but will also treat you like a star whilsy you're in Las Vegas chasing millions.

Here's what each room is offering in the way of WSOP qualifiers.

FULL TILT POKER
Once again Tilt is offering their $10,000,000 main event mania promotion. If you win the main event after qualifying at Full Tilt, they will pay you an extra $10 million!

There's plenty of ways to win that seat too. They're giving away at least 15 $12,000 WSOP packages every week up until June 22. Some of those are via paid satellites which start at $2 buy-in, but 50 are totally free via the 'Race to the Main Event' promotion. At the time of this article they had awarded 108 seats already!

POKERSTARS
PokerStars is where online poker players become world champions. Moneymaker, Raymer and Joe Hachem were all PokerStars players before their WSOP wins.

PokerStars has already had 472 players qualify at the time of this article! Ther standard WSOP package is $12.500. $10,000 buy-in and $2,500 for expenses. As an added bonus they will also give you free accomodation at The Palms resort (or $1000 cash) if you agree to wear their logo apparel throughout the tournament. If you wear their gear and make a TV table, you can get an extra $50,000! If you win the whole shebang, and extra $1 million is coming your way.

Their satellite tournament structure is great. You can buy in with cash from $2, frequent player points, or work your way up the step tournaments.

More player will qualify at PokerStars than any other site. Why? Because it's where the most action is!

BODOG
We'd all like to live the Bodog life. Fast cars, lots of money and looking good at the tables. You can play in Bodog style, by qualifying for the World Series at Bodog's unique online poker room.

Their banners as you can see up to the right, are saying how they will give you enough clothes to wear. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. If you play for Bodog, you'll be treated like a first class celeb. You'll get plenty of cool swag, a personal handler, access to the VIP Bodog lounge, and invites to the best Vegas 'PARTY HARD" parties.

They're planning on sending over 100 players, which may not seem like many compared to TIlt & Stars, but considering the smaller size of the competition you will have just a good a chance of qualifying at Bodog as anywhere else.

The 2006 winner, Jamie Gold played for Bodog, and he'll be there again in 2008 along with David Williams, Josh Arieh and Evelyn Ng and Team Bodog.
Check out  the Bodog Poker website, or our  Bodog online poker review for more info.
