In our opinion, this trade makes no sense at all. We said as much in our analysis of the likely destinations for Anthony, and we’ll say it again. The New York Knicks weren’t lacking in offensive capability. No, it’s defense that they suck at. And so does Anthony, so we have no idea why the Knicks would want him.

It gets worse, though, as the trade was brutally unbalanced for the Knicks. They lost starting players, a first round draft pick for 2014 and more picks, plus $3 million. This trade is supposedly going to get the Knicks to a championship, but how are they going to manage that without any defense?

Obviously it is too late in the season for the Carmelo trade to make a positive difference to the Knicks’ championship chances this year. They are going to need to forge an all-new team dynamic and that just won’t happen within half a season.

What will be different, however, is the number of points that will go on the board during Knicks games. Totals bets are going to be very easy to predict, as the over is going to be the clear pick to make. Games will be pretty exciting with all that scoring, but sticking to those overs on totals will be the order of the day in your betting.
