With the new NFL season just a few short weeks away, BetUS has released a horde of exciting futures and props for punters to enjoy. Everything from Super Bowl Matchups to Regular Season MVP to Rookie of the Year is available right now, so head over to the online sportsbook to take advantage of these early and lucrative lines.

Newcomers can sign up to BetUS today to enjoy many more of these unique wagering options. Join the sportsbook today and you will be rewarded with up to 155% in total bonuses, plus the opportunity to participate in exclusive sports betting tournaments.

For now though, let’s take a look at some of the most interesting NFL futures on offer over at BetUS today.

To Win Super Bowl XLV

Indianapolis Colts: +800
New Orleans Saints: +900
San Diego Chargers: +900
Dallas Cowboys: +900
Green Bay Packers: +1000
Minnesota Vikings: +1000
Baltimore Ravens: +1000

The 2009 AFC Conference champions are slight favorites to take out the Super Bowl this season, but nipping at their heels are Super Bowl XLIV victors the New Orleans Saints. The Saints started their preseason on a bad note with a tight loss against the Patriots, but made up for it with back-to-back wins over the Texans and Chargers. A win against the Titans on Thursday will set them up perfectly for their run into the new season, so be sure to take advantage of these lucrative odds while you can.

Regular Season MVP

Peyton Manning: +550
Drew Brees: +700
Tom Brady: +800
Philip Rivers: +900
Aaron Rodgers: +1000

It’s no surprise to see Peyton Manning sitting on favorite odds to pick up the MVP title this season. The 34-year-old quarterback has had an incredible career with the Colts and has already picked up the Most Valuable Player award four times in the past seven seasons. Young Aaron Rodgers had a breakout year in 2009, so keep an eye on him as well throughout the season as his +1000 odds could end up paying extremely well.

Conference To Win Super Bowl XLV

AFC Conference: -125
NFC Conference: -105

AFC vs. NFC Super Bowl Total

Over 48½ Points: -115
Under 48½ Points: -115

Punters can also have a bet on these early Super Bowl lines. BetUS is giving NFL fans the chance to pick the outcome of the next Super Bowl right now, so if you are keen on an interesting wager or two then head over to the BetUS sportsbook today.

The FedEx Cup playoffs continue this weekend with the second event in the series being the Deutsche Bank Championship. After regaining some of his form at The Barclays last weekend, Tiger Woods is keen to get into the swing of things again and defend his 2009 FedEx Cup title.

The top 100 points leaders after The Barclays have won entrance into the Deutsche Bank Championship, but several big names have already fallen down the rankings after missing the cut. The most prominent figure in that group is Phil Mickelson, who finished his second round at The Barclays at four-over par, and is expected to fall to 10th place in the tournament rankings before this weekend kicks off. The lefty has also inferred that he is considering skipping the BMW Championship – the third event in the FedEx Cup playoffs – which means he would have to win the Deutsche Bank to have any chance of winning the overall FedEx Cup title.

BetUS is the best online sportsbook to place all of your golf wagers, and new members can join the bookie today to collect 155% in bonuses.

To Win Deutsche Bank Championship

Tiger Woods: +500
Steve Stricker: +1000
Phil Mickelson: +1500
Rory McIlroy: +1500
Matt Kuchar: +2000
Jim Furyk: +2500
Adam Scott: +3500
Jason Day: +4500

Steve Stricker: Now sitting in second place on the FedEx Cup rankings after his third place finish at The Barclays, Steve Stricker is in prime position to vie for top spot. The 43-year-old American has the added advantage of having won this event last season, and will be keen to make it back-to-back championships. 2010 has been an excellent year for Stricker, coming off the back of wins at the Northern Trust Open and John Deere Classic, and finishing in the top 20 at the PGA Championship. With all his attention placed on the task at hand, Stricker will be a tough man to bet against come Thursday tee-off.

Matt Kuchar: Matt Kuchar grabbed his first PGA Tour win of the season at The Barclays last weekend after a determined final round saw him defeat Martin Laird in a playoff round. After almost a decade of lacklustre results, the 32-year-old has had the best season of his career in 2010, finishing in the top 10 at both the US Open and PGA Championship, and will looking for his second consecutive win in the FedEx Cup playoffs. Whether he will be able to mimic his heroics of a week ago remains to be seen, but he’s sitting at lucrative odds for those who believe he can make it two in a row.

Jason Day: 2010 has been a breakout season for young Jason Day. The 22-year-old Aussie picked up his first PGA Tour career win at the HP Byron Nelson Championship before making the cut at his first two major tournaments – he even finished tied for 10th at the recent PGA Championship. Day looked good at The Barclays, and even led the field for a time before succumbing to a late surge by Matt Kuchar; but if the youngster keeps up the form he showed at Ridgewood he could be a contender for top spot.

Be sure to keep an eye on BetUS throughout the Deutsche Bank Championship as there will be tournament matchups, futures, and updated betting lines throughout the entire four-day event.

Chelsea remain at the top of the leaderboard after a much quieter week in the Premier League goal department. New boys Blackpool played out their first home game of the season, while Wigan produced the unlikeliest of victories against European-bound Tottenham.

It was an interesting weekend of football in the English Premier League, and there were plenty of surprises to talk about. If you are looking for a secure online sportsbook to enjoy your football betting, be sure to sign up with Bodog to receive a £25 free bet.

For now, let’s get stuck into the weekend’s action.

Blackpool 2 – 2 Fulham: Blackpool’s dream start at Bloomfield road didn’t go exactly according to plan, but they managed to walk away from a tight contest with a draw.

With a hastily developed east stand finally complete, Blackpool were able to get their home campaign in the Premier League under way. And the Tangerines immediately looked the better side, putting the ball in the back of the net on 18 minutes before Brett Ormerod’s header was ruled to have been offside. Their spirits may not have been dampened after that, but the fans had plenty to grumble about when Bobby Zamora put Fulham into the lead just 10 minutes from halftime.

Displaying the sort of fighting spirit you come to expect from newly promoted teams, Blackpool finally got back in the game care of some Luke Varney magic. The 27-year-old only just signed on loan from Derby County during the week, but it was his build-up play that saw John Paintsil put the ball into the back of his own net. Not four minutes later and Varney was back at it again, this time getting his name on the scoresheet as Blackpool looked to be on course for their second win of the season. Unfortunately for the home side, Dickson Etuhu was there to spoil the party in the 86th minute with a cool equaliser, but Ian Holloway will take plenty of positives from a tough fixture.

Manchester United 3 – 0 West Ham United: Avram Grant’s nightmare continued with a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of an in-form Manchester United.

Perhaps the biggest question leading up to this fixture was “When will Rooney score?” After a drought at the World Cup and some poor form in front of goal since the return of the season, Wayne Rooney has been overshadowed by his often out-of-favor strike partner Dimitar Berbatov. The fans were cheering Rooney’s name after half an hour though, when he converted from the penalty spot after Ryan Giggs had been brought down in the area. Despite only fashioning one more chance – this time from the feet of Darren Fletcher – Manchester United went into the break with all the momentum and looked to be on course for a decent three-pointer.

And that’s exactly what happened when they returned. Nani has been brilliant in the past few weeks and showed once again why he is so highly regarded playing on either flank. The Portuguese winger linked up well with Rooney and found some space before hammering home a left-footer. West Ham were already done and dusted, but Dimitar Berbatov made sure of the victory with an acrobatic display in the 68th minute, giving Sir Alex Ferguson another reason to keep him in the starting 11 ahead over Javier Hernandez and Michael Owen.

Bolton Wanderers 2 – 2 Birmingham City: A 10-man Bolton squad pulled off a great escape after coming from behind to keep their unbeaten run in tact.

Birmingham got the game off to a flying start with defender Roger Johnson putting in from close range, but there was more pain to come in the opening half. Jussi Jaaskelainen had a brain snap just a few minutes out from the break where he seemed to slap Johnson after challenging for the ball; the Finn was deservedly given his marching orders and Martin Petrov made way for substitute keeper Adam Bogdan.

The young Hungarian kept the ball away from his goal for the remainder of the half, but was caught out on 50 minutes by a Craig Gardner strike that looked to kill off any hope of Bolton finding a way back into the game. But find a way they did, and it all started with a Kevin Davies penalty. The captain was fouled in the area after Johnson climbed all over his back, and he put his side back in contention with just 20 minutes remaining. Another silly foul in Birmingham’s half saw Wanderers with a golden opportunity to level things up, and Robbie Blake blasted the ball into the back of the net. Bolton could have gone on to win it had Davies not scuffed his shot in the area, but Coyle will be pleased with a respectable 2-2 scoreline.

Yes! There really is a Klitschko fight coming up and it is less than two weeks away. Wladimir Klitschko, the younger of the magnificent Klitschko brothers, is getting ready to meet with Samuel Peter on Saturday September 11th at the Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt, Germany. The stake in this extraordinary meeting are the IBF Heavyweight Title; currently in the possession of one Wladimir Klitschko – who also holds the WBO Heavyweight Title and the IBO Heavyweight Title.

BetUs is offering great early odds on this incredible fight:

Samuel Peter, ranked number one heavyweight in his native Nigeria and eighth in the world, has taken on a serious challenge for next Saturday. However, the 29-year-old Las Vegas resident might just have what it takes to live through a meeting with Klitschko. He did after all knock out Nagy Aguilera in the IBF Heavyweight Title Eliminator in March 2010, ending the event after two rounds to the disappointment of the attending crowd, who may have felt a little short changed by the briefness of the event.

In his boxing career, Peter has taken on 37 opponents. He has won 34 of his fights – 27 of them by KO – and only suffered three losses. Unfortunately two of these three losses were suffered at the hands of a Klitschko. Wladimir Klitschko beat Peter by points in the NABF Heavyweight Title match in 2005; Vitaly Klitschko, the older brother, knocked Peter out in round 8 and kept his WBC Heavyweight Title.

Regardless of his previous experiences with the Klitschko force, Peter seems to be in outstanding shape at the moment. His past four fights have lasted no longer than four rounds and he shows no signs of slowing down. Klitschko might just have to watch himself, seeing as Peter will do everything in his power to prevent another victory by points to keep him apart from the coveted title.

Wladimir Klitschko on the other hand must be looking forward to this challenge – seeing as this unbelievable boxer has not met a truly challenging opponent in years. His most recent defeat dates back to 2004 and has been punching his way to the top ever since. Currently holding three heavyweight titles, Klitschko has been synonymous with boxing success for over ten years.

From his first appearance at the ring in 1996 Wladimir Klitschko proved himself as a phenomenon. Within the first round he had knocked out opponent Fabian Meza and the rest is quite literally sporting history. Thus far Klitschko has fought 57 matches, winning 54 (48 by KO) but – interestingly – suffering three losses by KO in turn.

Klitschko’s most recent meeting with Eddie Chambers in March 2010 seemed for the most part to avoid the classic Klitschko ending – a knock out. However, in the final round Klitschko again found the magic angle and Chambers was no longer available. It is likely that Klitschko will do something similar to Peter when they meet in the ring – but we shall not count on it. After all, Klitschko is five years older than Peter and the young challenger has already proven himself as a great contender with incredible will power.

Do not miss this excellent clash of giants at the Commerzbank Arena. The match will be broadcast live and is due at 4.00 EST – so tune in and marvel at the strength and strategy of these incredible sportsmen.

Champions League victors Inter Milan will face Europa League titleholders Atletico Madrid on Friday, August 27 in what will likely be a clash of opposing mentalities.

The chance to win a piece of silverware early on in the season is always a treat for the managers, and both Rafael Benitez and Quique Flores will be keen to see that their respective teams are the one walking away with the trophy this weekend.

BetUS has all the odds for this Friday’s matchup, and new members can join the online sportsbook today to receive up to 155% in bonuses.

Inter Milan: -110
Draw: +230
Atletico Madrid: +270

Inter Milan: Rafa Benitez has wasted no time in announcing his 21-man squad for the Super Cup, and despite losing Thiago Motta and Davide Santon to injury the team looks incredibly strong. World Cup stars Wesley Sneijder, Julio Cesar, and Samuel Eto’o are all in the line-up, while Diego Milito, Goran Pandev, and Esteban Cambiasso will flesh out the ranks. Inter are coming off the back of their Supercoppa Italia win where they demolished Roma 3-1 care of a late Samuel Eto’o brace. The Milan club are strong favorites to win this fixture, and with the sort of team they have named it’s clear why.

Atletico Madrid: Their form in the Spanish La Liga last season may not have been as commendable as their run to the Europa League title, but Atletico Madrid boast a list of world class players regardless. Players like Diego Forlan, Sergio Aguero, and Simao all made their mark on the World Cup this year, and will be looking to steal the UEFA Super Cup out from under Inter’s noses. The Stade Louis II in Monaco will host this fixture, which may play into Atletico’s favor not having to play in front of thousands of Milanese fans at the San Siro. Whatever the outcome, it’s safe to say that Atletico Madrid defied the odds to claim the Europa League title last season and really have nothing to lose.

OG Tip: Inter to win comfortably.

With news that both Serena Williams and Juan Martin del Potro – 2009 US Open Champion – have withdrawn from the final Grand Slam of the year, the field has been cracked wide open for the remaining competitors.

In the lead up to this event, we have seen a number of different ATP and WTA champions, indicating that the prospective winners of the US Open may not be as clear cut as once thought. Roger Federer is back into the swing of things after his Cincinnati Masters win at the weekend, while Kim Clijsters is slight favorite to win back-to-back US Open titles next month.

For all the latest tennis betting action, be sure to check out BetUS. The online sportsbook has futures and specials available right now, including lucrative odds on some former US Open champions.

To Win Men’s US Open 2010

Roger Federer: +225
Rafael Nadal: +250
Andy Murray: +300
Novak Djokovic: +900
David Nalbandian: +1000
Andy Roddick: +1200
Robin Soderling: +1400

To Win Women’s US Open 2010

Kim Clijsters: +300
Maria Sharapova: +350
Venus Williams: +800
Victoria Azarenka: +600
Caroline Wozniacki: +900
Svetlana Kuznetsova: +1200
Elena Dementieva: +1800

As you can see by the odds, the Grand Slam veterans are at fairly short odds to win the US Open. But with the recent Tour results it’s hard to write off players like David Nalbandian, Mardy Fish, and Vera Zvonareva. If nothing else, we will be in for plenty of exciting tennis action over the next few weeks – but don’t be surprised to see a few unknowns in the final stages of the tournament.

Roger Federer: Cries of “the king is dead” have been belted out since Roger Federer’s quarterfinals exit at Roland Garros this year. Despite winning the Australian Open, the Fed Express has put in his poorest Grand Slam showing in seven years, and prior to last week he looked to be on course for another early exit at the US Open. However, a determined run at last weekend’s Cincinnati Masters saw the Swiss pick up not just the title, but also his form. If he continues his hard court dominance he’ll be a hard one to beat, especially with Juan Martin del Potro out of the tournament.

Andy Murray: Murray is at a critical time in his career. He may not have won a Grand Slam yet, but the 23-year-old has produced some wonderful results in tournaments this year. After reaching the final at the Australian Open, Murray followed it up with a semi-final spot at Wimbledon and victory over Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer to win the Canadian Masters. His hard court performances this season have been encouraging, and the Brit will be keen to repeat his heroics of the 2008 US Open, where he reached the final.

Kim Clijsters: The comeback queen is on a roll of massive proportions, and will be looking to collect her third Grand Slam title at the US Open this year. Since returning to tennis in 2009, the former world number one has raced up the rankings and is now sitting in third place on the Tour rankings. While she only managed to reach the quarterfinals in her last tournament, the 2009 champion is sitting at the best odds of claiming the US Open.

Keep an eye on BetUS throughout the coming weeks as more odds will become available. Right now you can only wager on who will win the tournament, but when the Grand Slam kicks off on August 30th you will be able to make bets on the outcome of each match.

Manchester City: +130
Draw: +220
Liverpool: +210

Now, onto the weekend wrap. We were lucky enough to enjoy a weekend of football where every match was a thriller. With so many spectacular fixtures on show it’s always tough to name the best, but here’s a review of the most entertaining games from Week 2 in the Premier League.

Arsenal 6 – 0 Blackpool: The Gunners gave Blackpool a harsh lesson on Saturday, as the Premier League newcomers learned just how tough it is going to be to stay in the top tier of English football.

Things didn’t look too bad for Blackpool in the opening minutes, despite a lack of possession and chances. With their 4-0 win over Wigan still fresh in their minds, they were perhaps a little too relaxed and paid dearly for it when Theo Walcott grabbed his first goal of the new season in the 12th minute. Things went from bad to worse on the half hour mark when Ian Evatt was given his marching orders after he was deemed to have brought down Maraoune Chamakh inside the box. Andrey Arshavin converted the resulting penalty, and seven minutes later Theo Walcott had his second.

The match was already over by half-time, but that didn’t stop Arsenal from turning on the flair. Abou Diaby struck just three minutes into the second period, before Walcott grabbed a deserved hat-trick and sent a clear message to England manager Fabio Capello. Lacklustre defending was to be the death of Blackpool, and despite missing a sitter a few moments earlier, Maraoune Chamakh netted his first Premier League goal with a clinical header in the 82nd minute.

Newcastle United 6 – 0 Aston Villa: With their first home game back in the EPL, Newcastle United embarrassed their opposition as they ran home 6-0 winners.

Hindsight is a handy thing to have after the fact, but Kevin MacDonald will be ruing a few of his team selections after admitting to making a mistake by playing too many youngsters. Stephen Ireland should have known he wouldn’t be in for the best of birthdays with his new side after John Carew shot a 10th minute penalty embarrassingly high. Two minutes later it was Newcastle with the edge after Joey Barton snatched a rare – and spectacular – goal. Things took off for the Magpies after that, and two goals in three minutes by Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll put the game to bed before the half-time whistle had even blown.

The home side kept up the pace in the second half, and Carroll grabbed a brace by the 67th minute. The young number 9 always looked dangerous with the ball, but it was Nolan who scored Newcastle’s fifth on 87 minutes. Not content to sit back and defend their massive lead, Carroll struck in injury time to complete his first career hat-trick in front of more than 43,000 supporters (including Newcastle legend Alan Shearer) at St. James’ Park.

Fulham 2 – 2 Manchester United: A late surge by the home side meant Mark Hughes’ Fulham side grabbed a point against a Wayne Rooney-free Manchester United outfit on Sunday.

Sir Alex Ferguson chose not to include Wayne Rooney in yesterday’s match squad care of a stomach bug, so the Mexican Javier Hernandez took his first Premier League start alongside Dimitar Berbatov. Things started well for the Red Devils as a wonderful move from Antonio Valencia set Paul Scholes up for his first of the season. Combination play between Berbatov and the United midfield was encouraging but ultimately produced nothing, and it was Edwin van der Sar that the players were thanking for their lead after a fabulous double save just before the break.

As the match wore on, it was obvious that Fulham were beginning to get the upper hand. Simon Davies equalized for the Cottagers thanks to a magnificently worked move that saw the ball rocket into the back of the net. However, Brede Hangeland thought he’d lost it for his team when he sent the ball into his own net after 84 minutes, and just a few moments later saw Nani with a penalty chance to give United a 3-1 lead. David Stockdale was on hand to give his side a final shot with his penalty save though, and Hangeland took full advantage of the situation by giving Fulham their second equalizer just a minute from full-time.

Nikolai Valuev, also known as ‘The Russian Giant’, has been noticeable absent from the ring since his loss by points to David Haye in November 2009. Has he been training? Has he been preparing his caveman-ish self for a fresh opponent? Not at all. Not even close. Nikolai Valuev has – apparently – been honing his skills as a professional poker player.

Online poker room PokerStars.com is now home to a page entitled Valuev’s Room, which hosts special tournaments allowing players to share a virtual table with the Russian Giant himself. Now, clearly this will draw ridicule from Valuev’s critics. There will be quips about his gigantic mitts struggling to hold a hand of cards – or, as it is online poker after all – crushing a delicate mouse between his solid steel fingers. Also, cynics are not about to attribute the strategic ability needed to be a successful poker player to the man they call ‘the missing link’ and frequently liken to a Neanderthal or Cromagnon. Well, they have it all wrong.

Firstly, the tournaments at Valuev’s Room are not designed as pure competition as such. Players can either compete against Valuev or coach him through the tournament. That’s right: Valuev is looking to other online poker fans for advice to make him a World Series Of Online Poker champion – and poker fans can pay for the privilege of improving the gentle giant’s game.
Secondly, it does not matter that Valuev is probably not brilliant at poker – if it is in fact himself who competes in these tournaments. The point is that after not entering a fight in ten months and not winning a fight in almost two years, Valuev has manoeuvred himself back into the spotlight. He may not have done it elegantly or in a subtle fashion, but he did it nonetheless.

However, this is not to say that any boxer could have pulled of such a comparatively lame stunt with as much success. Nikolai Valuev is a promoter by nature; his physicality alone makes everything he does something of a spectacle. As an outrageously large man, measuring 7’0” (213 cm), with distinctly caveman-like features, Valuev is nothing short of a modern freak show. For him to turn his shovel-sized hands to something as popular as online poker is a brilliant strategic move; and not only because the idea of Valuev attempting a pokerface is absolute comedy gold.

There have been rumours about Valuev taking on a Klichko brother at some point this year, but they were either untrue or the plan never came to fruition. Perhaps Nikolai was too busy learning poker rules and clicking his night away on the tables…in any case, you now have the chance to get your very own piece of Valuev action on the internet. Whether you choose to go up against the Russian Giant in a non-life threatening way or rather teach him bad habits to corrupt his new career – everyone can join in the fun.

Then again, perhaps we should not make it fun. If you are looking forward to seeing the monster from Saint Petersburg in the ring again, it might be best to ignore his poker efforts. The sooner he is bored, the sooner his anvils of fists will start itching and we will have reason to cheer again.

The English Premier League is underway for another season, and we’ve already been privy to a handful of exceptional matches. Chelsea started things off with a bang after destroying newly promoted West Bromwich Albion 6-0, while Blackpool shocked the football world with their 4-0 away victory at Wigan.

Week 2 is set to be even bigger and better, and Bodog has all the odds on each fixture. Here are some of the most intriguing bets available for the coming weekend of football:

Arsenal: -550
Draw: +550
Blackpool: +1400

West Brom: +150
Draw: +225
Sunderland: +175

Wigan Athletic: +1100
Draw: +450
Chelsea: -400

Read on to find out about the best action from the weekend, and be sure to head to Bodog in order to back your favorite team throughout the 2010/11 season.

Tottenham 0 – 0 Manchester City: In one of the best goalless draws you are ever likely to see, Joe Hart was the star of the show as both sides were held to a nil-all scoreline.

Both clubs headed into this fixture with plenty of expectation on their shoulders, however it was Spurs who took the initiative in the first half. With hardly an attempt on goal, Manchester City were forced to defend for much of the opening 45, and Joe Hart absolutely justified his choice as England’s number one with a string of stunning saves. Peter Crouch had the first chance to put his side in front and was joined shortly after with shots from Jermain Defoe, Tom Huddlestone, and Benoit Assou-Ekotto. Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon added their names to the shots-on-target list, but nothing could give them the edge by half time.

The only real chance Man City saw in the first 45 was a wild attempt from Yaya Toure after Carlos Tevez broke free on the counterattack. Thankfully for Roberto Mancini however, City turned the tables in the second. Shaun Wright-Phillips had a chance to give City an unlikely lead after beating the offside trap, but was closed down well by Assou-Ekotto. After bringing on Adam Johnson, he created a handful of chances for Tevez and the like, but nothing really troubled Gomes in between the posts. One final chance for Spurs to grab all three points was sitting on a plate for Bale, but he blasted his shot wide with his weaker right foot.

Wigan Athletic 0 – 4 Blackpool: In what should have been a baptism of fire, Blackpool showed the Premier League that they are here to play with a 4-0 thrashing of Wigan Athletic.

Playing at the DW isn’t easy even for the biggest clubs in the EPL, as Arsenal will knowingly concede. However, Blackpool didn’t have a problem getting their season off to a blinder. New signing Marlon Harewood was the force behind the Tangerines, and his deft cross was put away by Gary Taylor-Fletcher in the 16th minute to give the away side an unlikely lead. With hardly an attempt on goal for Wigan, Blackpool continued to press forward and they were granted a second when Harewood belted in his first for the club from outside the box. Five minutes later he was in again, and Blackpool were in dreamland at half time.

You could have forgiven Blackpool for sitting back and protecting their 3-0 lead, but they continued to move forward, creating chances and taking risks. The icing on the cake came in the 74th minute when Alex Baptiste saw his touchline cross creep into Chris Kirkland’s near post, giving Blackpool their first top-flight victory since 1979.

Liverpool 1 – 1 Arsenal: It finished all square at Anfield as both sides ended the match with only 10 men on the field. Despite plenty of potential on the pitch, the scoreline was determined by some questionable goalkeeping from both teams.

The opening 20 minutes of the match dragged on, and it seemed as if we were in for a dull match-up. However, Milan Jovanovic brought Liverpool to the fore shortly after, showing great strength against Bacary Sagna before setting up his teammate for a shot on target. Chances were few and far between for both sides in the opening period, but Anfield had a reason to abuse the referee when new boy Joe Cole was sent off in injury time after lunging into Laurent Koscielny.

After the break, Arsenal should have taken advantage of their 10-man opponents, but it was the home side that broke the deadlock. Some poor passing from the Gunners saw David N’Gog with the ball at a tight angle, and he made no mistake with his strike by rocketing it past Manuel Almunia at his near post. Both sides pushed on for more goals, but the fans had to wait until the final seconds for one to arrive. Marouane Chamakh sent the ball driving into Liverpool’s goal post before Pepe Reina inadvertently carried the ball over his own line, levelling the score. The scoreline would remain at 1-1 but there was one more order of business before the final whistle: Laurent Koscielny being sent off for his second bookable offence within the space of a few seconds.

Other Results

Aston Villa 3 – 0 West Ham United
Blackburn Rovers 1 – 0 Everton
Bolton Wanderers 0 – 0 Fulham
Sunderland 2 – Birmingham City
Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 – 1 Stoke City
Chelsea 6 – 0 West Bromwich Albion

This Saturday, 21st August 2010, promises some serious heavyweight action when Tomasz Adamek faces challenger Michael Grant at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The fight is scheduled for 10:00pm EST and both boxers have a reputation to uphold and a point to make – so the battle won’t be anything short of merciless. BetUs is already offering great odds on this meeting of the giants:

Tomasz Adamek, aka Goral, approaches Saturday night with an almost immaculate record. Currently ranking 1st in his native Poland and 4th in the world, Adamek has only lost one of his 42 fights as a professional boxer. Adamek’s sole defeat – albeit by points – came courtesy of Chad Dawson, when the pair met at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida in February 2007. Since then, Adamek has fought his way closer and closer to the top, remaining undefeated in his last ten altercations – and has no intentions of allowing Grant to take put an end to his winning streak.
Throughout his life in the ring, Adamek has proven himself a somewhat unlikely but immensely successful heavyweight boxer. Although tall, 33-year-old Adamek seems somewhat skinny to compete in heavyweight; a fact that may work to his advantage in the ring, luring rivals into a false sense of safety. Skinny or not, Adamek has achieved 27 of his 41 victories through KO and is now planning to add Michael Grant to his knock-out list.

Michael ‘Big’ Grant currently ranks 13th in the United States and 41st in the world – so he is taking on a tall order going up against Adamek. However, Grant is in outstanding shape at the moment. After almost two years of absence, Grant returned to the ring on the May 7th 2010 and promptly knocked out opponent Kevin Burnett in the first round. 38-year-old Grant has stepped into the ring for 49 professional fights, winning 46 of them (34 by KO); however, all his defeats saw Grant being knocked out. Still, there is little shame in being knocked out by the likes of Dominick Guinn, Jameel McCline and – least shameful of all – legendary Lennox Lewis.
This Saturday, Grant will be out to rebuild his newfound reputation even further – ideally by celebrating a triumph over Adamek.

This fight is an event no heavyweight aficionado can afford to miss. With much at stake for both fighters, we can all look forward to some serious action in the ring – so let’s get ready to rumble in New Jersey!
