Do you think Big Brown can back up from the Kentucky Derby and win the Preakness Stakes? Everybody else sure seems to think he will! The odds are getting a little crazy, with most online sportsbooks offering very low odds on the Brown one taking the 2nd leg of the Triple Crown.
No horse since 1978 has won all three races of the crown. And there’s a reason for that - it’s freaking hard to do!
But still Big Brown is an overwhelming favorite to win the Preakness.
If you don’t think you can pick the winner of the Preakness Stakes, maybe you could try a surer thing and try Bodog’s Preakness Stakes edition Blackjack. They’ve got a blackjack game released just for this weekend’s race. Combined with our blackjack strategy guide, you’ll probably have a better chance at a collect than trying your luck on the ponies.
It’s a bit of a gimmick sure, but we think gimmicky things are fun. It’s nice when somebody goes to some effort to liven up an old favorite.
Here’s some more fun bets for you. Bodog is offering the following bets combing the Preakness Stakes and the NBA playoffs:
- Which will be greater, Big Brown’s margin of victory or Kobe Bryant’s total assists in Game 6 Vs Utah
- Big Brown +2.5 lengths (-120) or Kobe Bryant 2.5 assists (-120)
How’s that for action. NBA bets and ponies combined!
Regardless of your chosen punt this weekend. Have a good one.

The NBA playoffs are in full swing and this has to be one of the best pro basketball seasons in many years.
There hasn’t been an upset in the playoffs yet, with every series going to the higher seed so far, but there has been some close calls. #8 seed Atlanta took the #1 seed Boston Celtics to 7 games in the first round, nearly causing a big upset. Nobody saw that coming.
The three teams we picked to cause upsets were unfortunately disappointing in the end. Dallas were embarrassed by New Orleans and Chris Paul - and their coached was subsequently sacked.
Phoenix was closer to the Spurs than the 4-1 scoreline suggests, and if Duncan hadn’t hit that three in the first game it might have been a different story altogether.
And the Wizards lost Agent Zero - Gilbert Arenas - and just couldn’t contain The King, Lebron James.
There has been a big swing toward homecourt advantage right throughout the playoffs. The home team is always favored, but it has been crazy just how many games home teams have been winning, especially in the 2nd round, with 3 of the four matchups tied 2-2 after 4 games.
Right this second, Boston is taking their game 5 at home against the Cavs and will go 3-2 up despite everything Lebron is throwing at them. New Orleans also took their game 5 at home yesterday to go 3-2 up on the Spurs and the Lakers will be trying to do the same today against the Jazz.
Detroit is the only team to secure a conference finals spot so far, doing so for an amazing 6th year in a row! How’s that for consistency. It’s a pity they only have the one title to show for that streak…
Anyway, we’re predicting a lot more home team love for the rest of the playoffs. It’s just too strong a trend this season to bet against.
Bodog thinks so too, with the Celtics and Lakers most favored to make it to the finals. They currently have the Lakers as a slight favorite at $2.60 to win the whole thing and the Celts at $3.
Our beloved Lakers will need a win on the road to take it out, so we’re gunning for that to happen! But until then - bet with the home teams my friends.

The NBA playoffs kicked off today. We made these predictions about the first round.
Mavs to beat Hornets, Suns to beat Spurs, Wizards to beat the Cavs. Well, it’s only game one, but none of our teams have won yet.
The Suns went down to the Spurs on the road in double overtime! Tim Duncan hit a three to put the Spurs into overtime for pete’s sake! His only 3 of the season! The Suns played well but it was like divine intervention was on San Antonio’s side.
The Wizards were clobbered by Lebron James as we feared might happen.
There’s a long way to go in both matchups, so we’re still confident our underdog picks will come through. Dallas is currently up on the Hornets by 10 points. Go Mavs, Dirk Nowitski should at least get one of our picks off to a good start.
Happy punting
