Great time of year for us Gamblers
Author: Ed Jones20 Oct
October/November really is a great time of year if you like to have a bet.
The NFL season is in full swing, so too is NCAA Football, where there’s real money to be made from sentimental fans betting on their alma mater.
My other favorite sport is just about to fire up as well, with the NBA season about to tip off and the Lakers favorites to win it all again with the online bookies.
And poker’s biggest event, the World Series of Poker, is down the final table, known as the ‘November Nine’. Full Tilt’s Phil Ivey is third favorite at 4-1, behind chipleaders Darvin Moon and Eric Buchman. Ivey will be doing well to win the thing considering he is starting with some serious stack envy. Bodog has all the latest WSOP odds.
And one of the world’s biggest horse races is also coming up on the first Tuesday in November – The Melbourne Cup. It stops the whole country of Australia, but the rest of the planet is also becoming more and more intrigued by this great race and you should be too as there’s always great odds to be had as the horses run over two miles and it is often anybody’s race at the final turn.
If you’re in the northern hemisphere things are probably starting to get a little cool now, but if you’re in the tropics like me, things are just starting to heat up. It’s my favorite time of year… NFL… NBA… warm weather… more people indoors up north and playing poker… it’s all good!
Don’t hate me cause you ain’t me!

Yang upsets Woods
Author: Tucker16 Aug
It looked like it was going to be a 15th major title for Tiger Woods as he held a fairly comfortable lead throughout the US PGA. However, Saturday and Sunday shook things up a bit, and another relative unknown took the last major title of the year. South Korean YE Yang stunned everyone by beating Woods in the fourth and final round.
Padraig Harrington surprisingly dropped out of contention on Saturday after putting the ball into the water twice, resulting in an eight on the par-3 No. 8. US Open champion Lucas Glover looked to be in pretty good position to give Woods a run for his money. He was within one stroke of the world No. 1 but dropped to 3 under after three bogeys on the last four holes in his front nine. Slowly but surely, it looked as if Yang was going to be the only one to catch Woods and by the last five holes of the final round, Yang was tied with Woods at 6 under. Their closest competitor was Lee Westwood who was three strokes behind.
Yang chipped in for an eagle just short of the green to put himself at 8 under while Woods whacked it out of a bunker to putt for a birdie. The 15th hole saw Woods miss a simple birdie but both players made par. They then parred the 16th and bogeyed the 17th. The clincher finally came on the final hole when Yang shot within a few meters and finished with a birdie to put him at 8 under. Unfortunately Woods struggled for another bogey, which put him at 5 under and handed the win to the South Korean.
Yang’s win marks his first major title and the first time that an Asian-born player has won a major championship. Woods came in second making this the first year since 2004 that he hasn’t won at least one major title. Westwood and Rory McIlroy tied for third. Phil Mickelson had a dismal performance, finishing 73rd after a tough weekend at Hazeltine. And though the gap between world No. 1 and No. 2 seems to be getting wider with the passing tournaments, Mickelson is still optimistic, insisting that his game will return.
So, another major is wrapped up. Congratulations to YE Yang on a hard fought win. Keep checking BetUS for all of the odds on the upcoming tournaments, including the Solheim Cup 2009. The following odds are currently on offer:
Moneyline
USA: -500
Europe: +350
