The Heisman Goes To
Author: Tucker16 Dec
Running back Mark Ingram had the distinguished honor of bringing the Heisman to the University of Alabama for the first time in the school’s history after winning the coveted trophy last Saturday.
In the closest vote in Heisman history, Ingram received 227 first place votes and 1,304 points to claim the trophy. Coming in a close second, Stanford running back Toby Gerhart received 222 first place votes and 1,276 points. Texas quarterback Colt McCoy rounded out the top three with 203 first place votes and 1,145 points.
Ingram is certainly worthy of the famed award as he has been the foundation of the Crimson Tide offense. He not only helped the team achieve the no. 1 ranking in the nation, but he also rushed for a school record 1,542 yards and 18 touchdowns. He finished the season off with an impressive 113 yards and three touchdowns against Florida to help land his team in the BCS National Championship game.
Though Ingram was moved to tears by his historic win, he did mention that there was still a national championship to be won. The Crimson Tide will face the Texas Longhorns in the BCS National Championship Bowl on January 7. BetUS is offering the following odds:
Pointspread
Longhorns: +5 -110
Crimson Tide: -5 -110
Moneyline
Longhorns: +170
Crimson Tide: -210
