Jozy AltidoreWith the majority of European competitions taking a break this week for international duties, several national teams are taking advantage of friendly matches. Some of the heavyweights of football will be clashing heads this weekend, and BetUS has posted odds on every game.

Plenty of teams that failed to qualify for South Africa next year will be competing, while prospective World Cup champions will be raking in the crowds at home. So let’s take a look at some of the most anticipated games on show.

Brazil: +115
Draw: +225
England: +210

Brazil vs. England: Sitting atop the South American qualifiers is no small task, and while they only managed it by a single point, Brazil’s defensive record speaks for itself. 11 goals conceded in 18 matches is almost unheard of in international football, but with a strong back line, and a world-class attack to compliment it, they are slight favorites to take out this match, which will be played at a neutral ground.

While Brazil may have South American bragging rights, England showed us just how powerful their national team has become over the past four years. They might be struggling to find a consistent goalkeeper, but their attacking options up front are numerous. Wayne Rooney, Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch, Emile Heskey, and Darren Bent are all vying for a starting spot against Brazil, and if they manage to find their form you can be certain that this will be a close game.

Spain: -110
Draw: +225
Argentina: +265

Spain vs. Argentina: A few years ago these odds would have been considered ridiculous. However, in that time Spain have managed to establish themselves as one of the best national squads in the world, a fact backed up by their incredible 10 wins from 10 matches in European qualifying. Spain can be a hard train to stop when they get going, and a win might just be out of Argentina’s reach for now.

Diego Maradona’s squad only just scraped into the World Cup on the last day of qualification, and with more repercussions set to hit the outspoken coach, the Albicelestes’ future looks to be bleak at best. While they may have the likes of Lionel Messi, Javier Mascherano, and Carlos Tevez in their ranks, a win against Spain may be asking a bit much.

Italy: +135
Draw: +220
Holland: +180

Italy vs. Holland: Despite winning the 2006 World Cup, Italy have had a few hiccups along the way. Still, they managed to secure first position in their qualifying group and have therefore booked a ticket to South Africa 2010. Their opponents have been in red-hot form, but with a home ground advantage, you’d have to expect the World Champions to come away with the win.

Qualifying was a breeze for the Netherlands: eight wins from eight matches, 17 goals, and only two conceded. Their unbeaten run continued with a scoreless draw in Australia, and they may feel that they are unstoppable. While they are slight underdogs, their defensive record shows that if they can score an early goal and shut up shop, they may just walk away with a surprise victory.
