World Series Update
Author: Tucker3 Nov
The Yankees had a 3-1 lead in the series and a chance to seal the deal, but
the Phillies proved that they’re not quite ready to call it quits. Game 5 just wrapped up and Philadelphia managed to grab an 8-6 win to remain in contention for the World Series title.
The Yankees came on strong with Alex Rodriguez starting things off with a run-scoring single and despite a double from Jorge Posada and a single from Hideki Matusi at the start of the ninth, they were unable to rally for the win. The Phillies, on the other hand, had two massive homers from Chase Utley and the final death nail from Raul Ibanez. Pitcher Cliff Lee also had a great game, pitching a six-hitter to help the Phillies set up for the win.
The Phillies’ win forced a Game 6 for the first time since 2003. It marks the first time that the Yankees have failed to win the Series after taking a 3-1 lead. And though it might seem unlikely for the Phillies to overcome, 37 out of 43 teams have managed to beat a 3-1 deficit. They’ll be trying to further close the gap in Game 6 this Wednesday, November 4. New York pitcher Andy Pettitte is expected to return to the mound after three days’ rest while Pedro Martinez will be starting for Philadelphia. BetUS is offering the following odds:
Run Line
Phillies: +1 ½ -115
Yankees: -1 ½ -105
Moneyline
Phillies: +170
Yankees: -200
Be sure to put down a wager at these odds before the game gets underway, and check out the game to see if the Yankees can finish things off or if the Phillies can claw their way back from behind.
