TwitterTwitter has certainly become well incorporated into the sporting world of late. It’s one of the first places I frequent to hear about upcoming transfer rumors in the football world so it must be all right.

BetUS has realized this potential and put up several hilarious Twitter-related sports bets online. The first is related to cycling legend Lance Armstrong’s return to professional racing. BetUS has odds on whether Armstrong will Tweet a message while on his bike during the Tour. I don’t know much about the logistics of Tweeting while racing the Tour de France, but from the amount of crashes I’ve seen throughout the previous races I’d have to wager against Armstrong showing how technically savvy he is while on a bike.

There are a couple of great odds relating to the professionalism of sportspeople as well. One is dedicated to whether a player will announce their formal retirement on – wait for it – Twitter, before any other medium. The guys at BetUS obviously understand how immature and spoilt many sports stars can be and have coupled that with the massive boom in personal technology programs like Twitter to give a Yes an attractive +200 wager.

A whole feast of other hilarious wagers are available at BetUS; I especially liked the one about whether an NFL player would Twitter from the End Zone during a 2009 match. Forget the odds, I’d just love to see Hines Ward celebrate a touchdown by Tweeting.
