Island of Spirits
Author: Mav13 Jun
The Island of Spirits, Jeju, is an island about 60 kliks off the coast of South Korea.
The Jeju Free International City Development Centre is joining forces with Berjaya Leisure (Cayman) Ltd (HQ in Kuala Lumpur) to develop a resort which will have a full on casino, hotel, villas and apartments.
Jeju already depends largely on tourism. The island has much to offer international and local tourists.
Jeju has a temperate climate, although I’d sooner winter in Bali.
Nature has been kind to the island. There are scenic waterfalls, large hills some might call mountains, great golf courses, a diverse coastline varying from wild rocky areas to family beaches. The energetic can go mountain or rock climbing and even hunting and fishing.
In towns there are festivals in summer and winter. Enough already, but having a casino resort on the island, isolating it somewhat from the mainland, may appease many Koreans who object to gambling.
For those of you who like to feel safe, Jeju is traditionally considered to have no crime and no thieves…perhaps a few pickpockets. Let’s hope the advent of a casino doesn’t change that….
Jeju has a reputation for sex holidays …but don’t most tourist destinations.
