Spurs beat the odds

San Antonio SpursThe San Antonio Spurs did what no other team has been able to do this season in the NBA playoffs. They won a game 7 on the road. Because that’s what champions do…

I was too chicken to predict the result, and was cheering for the Hornets. But even though they were favorites with the sportsbooks and had won every home game by 20 points, in my heart they were still underdogs against those damn Spurs.

We did however suggest the under bet on the game score, which came through when only 173 points were scored. Collecting money without having to pick the winning team is fun.

I’m a Lakers fan. And I’m scared of the Spurs. I would have rather we play the Hornets in the Western Conference Finals, because I think we match up on them better. There’s no odds up yet, but I’m sure the Lakers will be favorites in the series. But those damn Spurs will find a way to make it scary.

Not that we care - the more games that are played, the more chances we get to sit on the couch with chips and beers and bet on the action with Bodog Live.

Have you seen this live betting stuff yet? It’s freakin’ awesome. You can bet on things happening whilst the game is playing and the odds are continually updated. There’s nothing better than some in game action to keep it interesting.

But anyway, well done Spurs, damn you… You’ll live to fight another day and we’ll continue to have bets that don’t involve you losing…

Big Brown Triple Crown?

Triple Crown chance, Big BrownSo Big Brown took the Preakness in dominating fashion and is on track to be the first Triple Crown winner since 1978…

The Bodog Racebook now has Big Brown at odds of 1.36. to take the Belmont Stakes and be crowned a Triple Crown champion (win 36c for every $1 bet). Or you can bet that he won’t win the Belmont, which is currently at odds of 3.00.

You might be tempted to take a bet at the $3 price for him to fail in the Belmont, and history would be on your side - all ten horses who have won both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness since 1978 have failed to conquer the 12 furlongs at Belmont Park. But most who saw the way he strode home in the Preakness would think it’s a shaky wager.

Jockey, Kent Desormeaux, had this to say after the win; “I looked between my legs, under my arms, and they were eight back. I just stopped riding and reeled him in and made sure he didn’t pull himself up.”

It was a powerful display from an awesome horse. The history books will say he won by 5 lengths, but anyone there knows he probably would have won by 12 if he had been allowed to stretch out.

We’re thinking your best bet for the Belmont Stakes in 3 weeks time will be to take advantage of Bodog’s generosity and take up their offer to pick 2nd place instead of 1st.

The Big Brown is too good.

Preakness picks, BJ & Bball

Online CasinoDo you think Big Brown can back up from the Kentucky Derby and win the Preakness Stakes? Everybody else sure seems to think he will! The odds are getting a little crazy, with most online sportsbooks offering very low odds on the Brown one taking the 2nd leg of the Triple Crown.

No horse since 1978 has won all three races of the crown. And there’s a reason for that - it’s freaking hard to do!

But still Big Brown is an overwhelming favorite to win the Preakness.

If you don’t think you can pick the winner of the Preakness Stakes, maybe you could try a surer thing and try Bodog’s Preakness Stakes edition Blackjack. They’ve got a blackjack game released just for this weekend’s race. Combined with our blackjack strategy guide, you’ll probably have a better chance at a collect than trying your luck on the ponies.

It’s a bit of a gimmick sure, but we think gimmicky things are fun. It’s nice when somebody goes to some effort to liven up an old favorite.

Here’s some more fun bets for you. Bodog is offering the following bets combing the Preakness Stakes and the NBA playoffs:

  • Which will be greater, Big Brown’s margin of victory or Kobe Bryant’s total assists in Game 6 Vs Utah
  • Big Brown +2.5 lengths (-120) or Kobe Bryant 2.5 assists (-120)

How’s that for action. NBA bets and ponies combined!

Regardless of your chosen punt this weekend. Have a good one.
